I’m a research fellow at Nanyang Environment & Water Research Institute (NEWRI), Nanyang Technological University, working on developing a better understanding of how our economic activities affect the environment.

I completed my PhD at the Division of Chemistry and Biological Chemistry, School of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, and Biotechnology, NTU, under Associate Professor Richard D. Webster, working on developing electrochemical methods to address environmental challenges. I was supported by the Singapore International Graduate Award (SINGA), under the Singapore Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR). My undergraduate degree was magna cum laude in Chemistry from KAIST, where I specialised in inorganic and organic synthesis. During my undergraduate study, I also spent time in a few research labs and on a research exchange at CBC, NTU, under the supervision of Associate Professor Soo Han Sen. I also worked as a research intern at the Thailand National Metal and Materials Technology Center (MTEC) (2018/19).

Outside research, I was involved in various student leadership activities. As a previous president of the NTU Graduate Students’ Association (NTUGSA), and a previous emeritus director, I strived to foster an inclusive and supportive environment for fellow graduate students.

Research interests

My research spans environmental electrochemistry, covering water disinfection, pharmaceutical analysis, CO2 capture, and electrocatalytic upcycling of waste streams into valuable chemicals. See the publications and portfolio pages for more details on specific projects.
